Our Last Day

It was time to pack up and go home this afternoon so we spent some time on the beach in the morning. Madison was so excited to find a hat like she wanted while we were in Laguna the night before. She keep saying how cool her hat was and that I should take a picture. We also found this guy on Laguna Beach selling these balloon rockets that you through and they came back to you. We thought they were pretty cool and would be fun at the beach.

The kids and Todd had a blast throwing it around.

It would go really high and it was funny watching the kids try and catch it because it like five times their size.

Another great year on the beach!

Day 3- Laguna Beach

Today our friends had to get back to work so we had the last two days to ourselves. In the morning we went for a stroll around to the harbor. We found a little walk way called the butterfly garden so we decided to hike through it.

The rest of the day we spent at the beach. There was a slope down to the beach so we thought it would be fun to slide down it on the boogie boards.

It is always nice to be together and the kids getting along with each other.

I am thinking we need goggles to keep the sand out of their eyes. The didn't seem to mind though.

That evening we went to dinner in Laguna Beach (I know we are really die hard campers). It is so pretty there. I loved walking around the shops. The kids also played on the playground on the beach for awhile.

It was a beautiful sunset. Too bad Abby wasn't enjoying it by then. Too many late nights in the camper watching movies and being silly.

Nights at the Campsite

In the evenings the girls loved going over to the amphitheater and putting on skits with some of the other kids at camp. There is video of one at the bottom. Everyone would come watch after dinner. They also loved climbing in the tree next to Sara and Noah's trailer. They put a lantern in and played until it was time to roast marshmallows.

Blake's favorite thing to do!

Abby was so proud until hers started to burn.

Afternoons at the Beach

Every afternoon after lunch was spent on the beach. Madison was always ready to go and loved hauling the backpack chair. Just north of us were a ton of birds. Luckily they stayed away from the beach and campsites. The city can't figure out why they keep migrating there.

We had some serious hole digging going on.

There was a slope to the ocean and Blake amused himself for quite awhile rolling down the sand into the ice cold water. Yikes!

Day one at the Tide Pools

The first morning we were there we went on the other side of the harbor and checked out the tide pools. The kids loved climbing around on the rocks at low tide. Someone had built a hut out of sticks. Rick and Todd took the kids up the big rock. I was glad when everyone was down safely!

Hailey and Sara were all about posing for pictures.

Madison thought the water was a little too cold.

Abby wanted to sit on the rock with sea shells like the mermaids.

Blake was very busy exploring.

Spring Break!

One week of spring break we went beach camping at Doheny in Dana Point. We were very excited to get a spot there. We loved it and there was hardly anyone there. I think the rain the weekend before made people cancel their trips. The weather turned out great though. The first day was colder and windy but the rest was really nice. The water was cold though, but the kids did not care. Blake and his friend were up every morning for a swim. We had some friends stay the first couple of days with us and then we had a couple days of family time.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

The kids wanted to make a leprechaun trap the night before St. Patrick's day. So we got them a box and let them go to town. Blake made a trap by attaching a string to the door when it opened. Inside they made a fake pot of gold to entice the leprechaun. They didn't catch a leprechaun, but they didn't care, because they got a pot of gold. It was also the jog-a-thon at school today to raise money to upgrade the school's computers. The kids all got free t-shirts at school for the run. After school Madison was playing out back with her friend Noah. I went to call her in to wash up for dinner, and this is what I found. They were rubbing their faces against the trampoline because somehow they thought it was funny. She had to do some serious scrubbing before coming in.

We have had three full weeks of visitors this month. First was Robyn, Paul and Jasmine, then Grandma and Grandpa Newbold, the next week Grant and his college friends came to stay, Uncle Kerry and Aunt Robyn came for one night and then Brittany and the girls came to stay. We had a day in between to wash towels and sheets for the next group, but it is always fun to have people come and stay.

On St. Patrick's day Grant and his friends were here. They had been at the beach all day and then decided to come back and hang with us. The kids loved having college kids in the house for a week. We had a green dinner together that night.

Abby loved her Shamrock dessert she made with me earlier in the day! She especially loved Grant's girlfriend Mandy, because every morning she would paint her nails before they left. They all tackled Grant and painted his too. They thought that was the funniest thing ever.

It wasn't hard to convince everyone to do a little doorbell ditching. All ten of us piled in our car and left pots of gold on some friend's houses. The kids love dropping of treats and running.

It was hilarious to see everyone piled in. We looked like a car of illegals trying to cross the border. Good thing we only went a couple of blocks. For any law enforcement personnel reading this...our official story is that everyone had their seat belts properly fastened.

School Spring Choir Performance

The kids had their Spring Choir Performance tonight at school. It was all songs about America. Each of them were in a different group so we were there for all three performances. It was the best one by far. They had a slide show with all the service men and women who are associated with the school. That was cool to see all the families that are serving our country. It is always good to show a little patriotism, especially these days.

Madison goes around the house belting out the songs all week long. She loves the songs.
