Blake performing with the Middle School Band at Richie's Diner for a fundraiser to raise money for buses for their Disneyland trip. He is still loving to play the trumpet!
Big Bear Zoo
Our last day in Big Bear we took a trip to the Zoo. I was not sure what to think of it when we drove past it daily because it look really small. I was a little surprised how interesting it was for the kids. It was not a bad little zoo. It was pretty cool because it was all mountain animals so it was kind of interesting.
The even had a couple of bears behind these to two ferocious cubs!
We are glad we did not run into any of these signs by or cabin!!!
We had a great time in Big Bear and were thankful for the invited. Blake had a blast with Mason all weekend. We were glad we were able to go. We were not sure because just days before there was one of the biggest manhunts for a cop killer in the state of California happening until just two days before we left. Thankfully that was all taken care of so we could enjoy a safe weekend away with friends!
Snow Tubing
Saturday afternoon we took the kids to the snow tubing park. It was so fun!!! Madison was at first disappointed becasue it was sledding like we usually do but it only took her one ride down to realize how much fun it is. We all loved the magic carpet ride up to the top of the hill. Abby wouldn't ride with me after the first ride because I screamed to loud. She thought that was pretty funny.
Thumbs up for a fun day!!!
Big Bear Ski Weekend
The kids had a four day weekend for Presidents weekend so we were invited by some friends to share a cabin with them in Big Bear. We left late Thursday night and headed up the mountain to find some snow. The kids were so excited to stay in a cabin.
The next morning we went to Big Bear Resort and did some skiing. It was a great view with the lake below! We spend most of the morning teaching Abby to ski the best we could.Daddy was very patient trying to help her while I helped Madison get over her fear of the chair lift.
Blake and Hailey have gotten really good at skiing and had a blast with their friend Mason taking three different lifts and exploring the hills. At one point they had gotten separated and we could not find Blake. I was really starting to panic thinking he was siting on a run crying under a tree. Luckily Todd found him skiing and having a good time. Thank goodness!!! He said he just keep skiing by himself like eight runs. It was having a great time! I think it is time to buy walkie talkies for our next ski trip though!!!
Our friend Nick couldn't believe how Hailey could hold her own on the slopes with the big boys!!!
By 1pm Abby sat herself down and officially decided she was done. Mark and Kelly had a cabin at the top of the bunny hill so we went there for pizza. Blake, Hailey , Todd and Nick skied to the close of the day but the younger kids and some of us stayed at the cabin.
It was nice skiing in warm weather! By noon we were all shedding our jackets. Now the kids can say the have skied in Utah, Idaho and California! Todd was pleasantly surprised how fun the resort was. The next day the men went skiing in the morning and he had a great time!!!
Happy Valentine's Day!!!
Now that Blake is in Middle School he had absolutely no interest in making Valentines but the girls were very excited! Madison decided to pass out sticky hearts so we came up with these cards.
Hailey was excited to see some mustache ideas so we made some fan (stache) tic valentines.
Abby wanted to pass our lip whistles and frog prince toys so we came up with sealed with a kiss cards.
We were ready for all the Valentine parties to begin.
Abby could hardly wait to give Ms. Lisa here special valentine she had made for her.
Abby and her class were very excited about their valentine treats! They made "Beary" cute boxes to put them in.
Hailey was super excited about her class party today because they got to do lots of crafts. They also made their boxes at school this year.
Happy Valentine's Day!
Chinese New Year
Abby's preschool celebrated Chinese New Year today by making these super cute dragon masks. They also helped make egg noodles for snack. The kids have all been learning a little about Chinese New Year at school so we decided to make some Chinese food for dinner. We had another family come for dinner who celebrate the Chinese new year and they gave the kids all two dollar coins and told us some of the traditions they have. The kids thought it was pretty cool celebrating two new years.
