Hailey's San Jaun Capistrano Mission Field Trip

Today Hailey and I went on the coaster with her 4th Grade class to the San Juan Capistrano Mission.  We had her friend Angela in our group once we got of the coaster from Oceanside we explored the Mission to find all the things they had been studying in social studies.

This mission is one of the best with the ruins of the old chapel the was destroyed.

The class also got to make bricks after a little presentation the mission put on for them.

The girls loved running around and exploring the place.

Hailey really wanted to use my camera and take pictures ALL the flowers.  She did a good job on most of them.  She was quite the little photographer.  She loved all the flowers there.
Hailey's best school friends.  They are very cute girls.
All aboard the train back to Oceanside and then the kids took the bus back to school.
Everyone had packed a lunch to eat on the coaster ride home.  Hailey and Angela loved kicking back and following the coastline back while enjoying their lunches.
The next week back at school they made missions out of clay.  Hailey did a great job on her mission!

Playing by the Bay

We spent a whole day playing down on the bay today.  The water was still pretty cold so they kids mostly just dug with their new shovels from the Easter Bunny.
Hailey and Abby decided to brave the cold waters together.  They were crazy I think the water temperature was only about 60 degrees.  We also saw a jelly fish swimming in the water that Blake scooped up with his shovel.
The rest of the afternoon we spent swimming in the heated pool.

Blake is getting so strong.  Hailey is almost as big as him and he was lifting her up.  Impressive!
It was nice to kick back and relax with just us for a few days before getting back into our daily routines.  We definitely had a fun spring break!

Sea World

After spending a couple of days in LA we were home for a day to get a few things done.  Then we packed up the motor home and stayed on at Campland on the Bay so we could spend a day at Sea World.  We have not been to Sea World since Madison was a baby.

 Petting starfish and bat rays.

We had to see the Baby Shamu in the Shamu show.

 They are amazing creatures!!!!

We convinced the kids not to stay in the splash zone at Shamu but they were very excited to sit in there for the dolphin show.  I did not want them sitting ten rows in front of us so I insisted we sit with them.  I should have known.
 Splash!!!!  All over my  camera!!!!
At least I still got a shot of us getting soaked.  Luckily between the splash and spilled water in my purse my camera dried out and everything was all good.   No more camera shots for me in the splash zone.
Since it was my birthday after Sea World they took me to Joe's Crab Shack on the beach for crab legs for dinner.  Yummy!

Studio Tour

While at Universal Studios we took the Studio Tram tour through the back lot.  The kids really liked it and it talked a lot about movies they had seen.  Todd was not the most excited to go to Universal at all but he was surprised how fun it was.  He should always listen to me:)

Everyone thought it was cool to see where some of Spider man was shot.
They had lots of cars from different movies.  Todd and I liked Magnum Pi's car and the Night Rider but Blake loved seeing all the Jurassic Park cars.
Hailey thought all the different sets were cool and feeling like you were in a different country.

They were filming a new show called Home and Family while we were there.
Madison had the best spot.  She got caught in the flash flood and almost eaten by Jaws!  The 3D King Kong was a hit and also the earthquake.
We also drove through Wisteria Lane from the Desperate Housewives.
We also saw a neighborhood destroyed by an airplane.
Abby really like seeing Whooville from The Grinch.  She said she thought the Studio Tour would be such a boring bus ride but it was "super fun".

A Day at Universal Studios

Today we spent the day at Universal Studios.  Todd and I have not been since we first got married and all of my family came down to visit.  The kids had never been so they were pretty excited.  We were able to get passes for the rest of the year with buying a regular ticket so we have somewhere to go this summer.

Abby was so excited to see Sponge Bob.  She loves him.  I hate him!
Hailey was the only one brave enough to go into the scare maze with me until they said it was PG 13 and she refused to go.  We did find some characters outside though.  It is the only attraction we missed.  The loved everything else though and the shows.

The new Transformer 3D ride was open.  I was really impressed.  It is worth the wait.

The kids also loved the Mummy Ride and the Jurassic Park ride.  Blake thought is was pretty cool to see a lot of stuff from the movie there.  He LOVES those movies.

We had a great day and stayed from opening to closing.
