Getting ready for Christmas
The weeks before Christmas are super busy with lots to do and get done. It is also things I love to do, like shop, be with family and friends, make Christmas projects and parties. It is also a time to remember what is most important and the blessings of our Saviour Jesus Christ. We love going to the Nativity Festival put on by our church. I love to see the kids watch the different songs song, they look so intrigued by the different rooms that reenact the birth of Christ and you can tell they too are feeling the real meaning of Christmas.
This is a dinner table I set for a dinner that we had at our house. Grandma Di was sweet enough to take the kids overnight so we could have a little peace and quite. It was amazing not having to get ready with four kids running around. The kids had a blast at Grandma Di's having a sleepover with her and their cousins. They made Christmas cookies, played Wii and sleep in her room with sleeping bags. Lisa and Jamey took the kids for a couple of hours the next day so Todd and I could get a little shopping done before picking them up. That was probably our biggest Christmas gift after such a busy week and the kids loved it.
Sunday night we loaded the car with goodies for neighbors and friends and were off to deliver. Todd cut some wood blocks and I decoupaged Christmas countdowns on them. The kids love to see all the Christmas lights as we drive around. Abby starts screaming lights when ever we come around the corner of a new street. It is a lot of work but I love being able to see everyone right before Christmas. We are so lucky to be in a great neighborhood.
I got a smokin deal on these pink and purple trees that were clearanced out for Christmas so we let the kids all have a tree in their rooms. They all have so many of thier own ornaments from their Grandparents. They only get to keep them in their rooms during Christmas if they can keep them clean. Will see if they last all of December next year.
It always feels so good when my Christmas cards are mailed out. It is worth it to get so many cards from friends and family though. Hailey and I love opening the cards each day to get updates on the people we love. Getting cards is one of my favorite things about Christmas. I was glad to see facebook didn't stop that from happening.
Once the gifts were all bought, wrapped and some delivered it was time to get ready for Santa. The kids were super excited to set out cookies. I couldn't believe how quickly Blake went to bed that night. He was asleep by 9:30pm, which is pretty early for him when he is on break from school. A little scary to think what time he might get up. He is so good during the holidays. We really enjoys the traditions and loves to get the girls excited too.
