Olympic Training Center

This month in Cubs we have been working on the Athlete and Fitness Badges.  We decided one of the weeks we would take the boys to the Olympic Training Center and see where the best athletes train year round.  This is where the Olympic Torch passed through and lite the last Olympics.  There are flags from all the participating countries in the 2012 summer Olympics.
We had a golf cart tour around the facility to see all of the training fields.  This is one of the weight training rooms.  One of the BMX Olympians was working out in there while we stopped by.  I can't remember his name.  They had a bunch of BMX tracks there.
Most of the other Olympians training there at the time were some from the Track Team and the Paralympic Archery Team.  The boys got to see them shoot some bull eyes without any arms.  They shot the bow and arrow with their feet.  We reminded the boys at the next few den meetings when they said they couldn't do some of the fitness stuff we had them do about the Archery Team we saw.
It was a long afternoon but I think the boys liked it.  We basically had to drive all the way to the Mexican border to get there.  Hopefully it inspired them!  At least the upcoming summer Olympics will make more sense to them.
