San Juan Capistrano Mission

Blake and I went on a field trip with his fourth grade class to the San Juan Capistrano Mission. The kids took the bus to Oceanside to catch the coaster by 8am. The other parent volunteers and I met up with the kids there. There were lots of volunteers we had one or two for every two kids. I got to chaperon Blake and his friend Conner. I love that he is still excited for me to be around :) The were loving the coaster ride to San Juan Capistrano. Blake thought it was cool to see a couple of the beach spots we have camped at.

Once we got to the mission the kids went on a scavenger hunt tour of the mission and saw all the things they had been learning about in Social Studies this year.

The boys both bought wooden snakes at the gift shop.

These are some of the original walls. It was really cool.

Next the kids got to make their own adobe brick as a group.

After the brick making it was time for lunch. Everyone had packed a sack lunch to eat.
After lunch there was two long hours to wait for the train left for Oceanside. So we were told to finish the tour. Everyone did it in the morning so the kids played in the courtyard. Luckily it was a beautiful day.

The kids loved the fish in the pond and spent hours just watching them.

The staff brought around food a couple of times while we were there. It is crazy how round their mouths would get when they were hungry.

It was 6pm by the time we got home. It was a long day but the kids really enjoyed themselves. Who wouldn't love playing with fish in a pond all afternoon.
