Grandma and Grandpa Newbold came to visit us for a week so they could see the girls and Todd perform at their dance recitals. On Saturday we went down to San Diego for the day. We wanted to see if we could get the boat going at the bay. Unfortunately it did not go so well but we made the best of the rest of the day. We had not been to the Mormon Battalion since they remolded it so we decided to check it out. It was really cool and the kids really enjoyed it. They made it really interactive so the kids were interested throughout it. They got to sit at a campfire, seeing talking pictures, be in a rainstorm and a stampede.
Hailey got picked to be one of the soldiers that marched so we could get a better understanding what it was like for them to walk and carry things.
At the end of the tour the kids got to pan for gold and were aloud to keep two of them.
They were very excited to get their little pieces of gold.
Grandma Newbold showed them all the things she used to have when she lived on the farm in Hinckley, Utah where she grew up. Madison thought the water spout was pretty cool.
Hailey was really glad she did have to do laundry the old fashioned way. Especially now that she has been learning to do some laundry at home. She would take our washer and dryer any day.
