Shoot out.

Blake is now a Bear Cub Scout and I was able to move up with him and be one of his Den Leaders. It is nice to have a smaller group. The boys have an achievement where they have to learn about the past and why it is important so we took the boys to Old Town. Once Saturday a month they have a reenactment of a shoot out so we went to watch and tour some of the old buildings in our town.
The boys loved the guns.

The actors were really nice with the boys.
They showed them all the types of guns and also let the boys each take home a blown out bullet. The boys were pretty excited about having a bullet.

After we went to check out the Jail and get root beet floats at the Old Town Root beer Store.

Ready, Set, Go!

Grandpa Ryan came up for his birthday and we decided to go to the racetrack and take him for a ride. Grandpa loves cars so we thought it would be fun. He had never race before so he had a great time. Todd and Grandpa got pretty competitive. The kids loved cheering them on.

Blake gave it a try and had a blast. There was one sharp turn he had trouble with and would always bump straight into the side. The steering is a lot different then his little go kart at home.

He always put the pedal to the medal when we passed by all of us.
The girls where all too short to ride on the big track and pretty bummed out. So Daddy and Grandpa took them to Mulligan's nearby to find some their size.
Madison and Hailey look so much alike in this picture. Madison thought she was pretty big stuff driving.
Hailey was in a zone and took an extra lap after she called all the cars in.
Abby was too little for those cars to but she was perfectly content with a stationary one. She even gave at great attempt at a thumps up, which looked more like a fingers up.
We are so lucky to have a Grandpa that loves to play as much as we do.

Krazy about Kindergarten

Our sweet little Madison is now in kindergarten. I wasn't sure how the first day of school would go even though she was so excited she can be very shy. But this is what she did as soon as we turned the corner to the Kindergarten area. All my worries vanished. She loves it.

She has two teachers that our so sweet and sensitive to her being so quiet. One of them was Hailey's teacher. She hasn't yet talked to her teachers, but they said she is a great listener and works very hard. She is trying very hard to get over her fear of talking. Luckily she has lots of good friends at school. She sits right next to her friend Maddie. In the other class she is has her buddies Noah, Trey and Tatum to play with on the playground.

She loves being in school with Blake and Hailey and loves homework!
I think this will be a great year for her to blossom!

Back to School

School started a week earlier this year. The summer was very short and not very hot at all. The kids were excited for the first day of school. Although Blake's face says totally the opposite. He told me it was so dumb to take pictures on the first day because he already had a million first day pictures from the past. Too bad:) Poor little Abby is home alone every morning. She still wanted to get dressed and ready for driving the kids with Mom.
Hailey is in a 2nd/2rd grade combo and couldn't be more excited about it. She has the same teacher Blake had for 3rd grade. She loves that she gets to learn cursive.

Here is Blake with the, not another picture, face. He is in 4th grade with a great teacher and a handful of good friends. He is excited about all the new technology the have in the classrooms this year. He hates the homework though.
Madison is now in Kindergarten and loves it! She says it is the most awesome class ever!

Happy 9th Birthday Blake!

We celebrated Blake's birthday with his friends on Saturday and with family on Sunday at Grandma Di's house. He was very excited to have Jackson and Zach there to celebrate with him.
He got spoiled by all of his family and got a bunch of the Lego Hero Factory sets that he has been wanting for months since he saw them in the Lego magazine. He is super excited to start his collection and show all his buddies.

He is such a good boy and we are so lucky to have him. I can't believe what a big boy he has become. Todd told me on his birthday he was halfway from being able to be on his own in college. It freaks us out to think how fast nine years has gone and will go. So we are going to make a huge effort to enjoy every moment with him. Happy Birthday Blake! You are still our favorite little boy :)

Blake's Mario Party

For Blake's 9th Birthday party we told him he could invite eight of his friends to go the the local theater and play Wii on the big screen. The boys were so excited to have the theatre to themselves and be able to play video games for two hours on the big screen. First we gave the boys all a hat and some glow in the dark VIP Player passes. Then we split the boys into two teams: Team Mario and Team Luigi and they took turns playing some four player games Blake had brought. I think they like watching as much as they like playing. The manager was fifteen minutes late getting there to open the theatre for us so we got six free movie passes which was just a little less then the cost of renting the place. So we got pretty lucky!

When they were done it was lunch time so Todd drove them all to our house in the moter home for pizza and cupcakes.

Todd and I had decorated late at night and when he came down the next morning he was surprised by his decorations. He came in and woke me up and said how awesome everything was. Blake had a great time and it was so fun to see him and his friends interact. He is very lucky to have some great friends. Blake is growing up to be such a great kid.

Summer Nights

For almost a whole week we left the tent up on our deck right outside our bedroom and had a campout every night. Todd put the kids mattresses in the tent and hooked up a TV so they could watch some movies. The kids loved. They were so excited to go to bed every night and the house was quiet at 8pm, which I loved. It was a pretty sweet set up for sure.

Summer Days

One of our favorite ways to keep cool this summer was to use the slip and slide and also spraying each other on the trampoline. We are super lucky that Dad gets to work from home because somedays he would take a quick lunch break and slide with us. Somedays family can be the best playdates.

Madison came up with her own version of bobbing for apples!

Making a Splash at the Water Park

We went to Wild Rivers for the day with some friends and had so much fun. The kids all loved the water slides , there was something there for everyone. I thought they were so cute waiting for each other to come out of the holes. Everyone loved racing each other down the surf hill over and over.

Madison watched a few times and then she decided to give it a try. I thought she would come to the bottom crying, but she had a huge grin on her face and had to do it again.

What a perfect way to cool off!

We stayed all day and the last ride we went on was what we all called the toilet bowl. You go down a water slide into an enclosed bowl that swirls you around and then you just drop out the bottom. Hailey rocked it! She has no fear!

Hooray for water slides! Blake loved the water park, just not getting his picture taken :)

Boogie Boarding with Grandma and Grandpa

It was so hot after touring the ship that we put our suits on and hit one of our favorite beaches in Del Mar to cool off. We decided it was time for us to have two boogie boards, so we picked one up with dinner on the way and rode some waves until sunset. Blake and Todd showed Grandma and Grandpa how to do it, and then it was their turn. Who could resist this cute little girl cheering them on.
Grandpa, you could tell, was not that excited, but he couldn't resist his Grand kids or let Grandma show him up. So he grabbed a board and gave it a try.
He didn't really want much instruction and dropped onto the board as soon as he saw the first wave come in. He did it once, and he was done. Nice try for Grandpa.
Grandma was much more determined and got quite a few waves. She even went out a second time. Impressive for a 74 year old!
This picture is going to be a popular one in the family books.

Grandpa is much happier on the shore with the kids making sand castles.

The perfect way to cool off during our one and only heat wave of the summer.
